For a correct calculation of a water treatment appliance it will be very important to know the water consumption. The water consumption will vary from one person to another and from one country to another. Water consumption per inhabitant has a tendency to go down when the price of the water goes up.

In the Sahel-countries people have very difficult access to water. A daily water consumption of 10 – 15 litres is not an exception. People with a water consumption of less than 40 litres per day are called “water poor”. In Europe the average water consumption is at least 100 litres per day. In the USA the average water consumption per day is more than 500 litres.
